Keeping the Love Alive! Seven Simple Ways to Strengthen your Marriage

"Mawage! Mawage is what bwings us toogeva tooday!..." Where's all my Princess Bride fans out there!  Sorry I can't say "marriage" without quoting that infamous scene, anyway...

Let's talk marriage! It's a beautiful journey that brings two people together in love and commitment. Remember how exciting everything was when you were first married?  Remember all the late nights and giggling, the cutsie things and how you always wanted to be together.  So fun!  But what has happened as the years have flown by?

Children, daily routines and responsibilities start taking over and pretty soon the most important earthly relationship in your life starts taking a back seat. That's why it's crucial to keep dating your spouse even after saying "I do." Dating allows you to reconnect, have fun together, and continue building a strong foundation for your marriage. In this blog post, we will explore some practical tips on how to keep dating after marriage and keep the love alive.

1. Schedule Regular Date Nights

Life can get busy, and it's easy to let date nights slip through the cracks. However, setting aside dedicated time for just the two of you is essential. Schedule regular date nights and treat them as non-negotiable. Whether it's a fancy dinner, a movie night, or a simple walk in the park, make sure to prioritize this time together.  Getting bored of dinner or a movie for date night? 2. Surprise Each Other

Surprises are a great way to keep the spark alive in your marriage. Plan surprise dates or activities for your spouse. It could be as simple as cooking their favorite meal or arranging a weekend getaway. These surprises show your spouse that you are thinking about them and that you still want to make them feel special.

3. Try New Things Together

One of the best ways to keep the excitement alive in your relationship is to try new things together. Step out of your comfort zone and explore new hobbies, activities, or adventures. It could be taking a dance class, going on a road trip, or trying a new restaurant. These shared experiences create lasting memories and strengthen your bond.

4. Communicate Openly

Communication is the key to a successful marriage. Make sure to have open and honest conversations with your spouse about your desires, needs, and expectations. Discuss what you both enjoy doing together and brainstorm new ideas for date nights. By understanding each other's preferences, you can plan activities that you both will enjoy.

5. Show Appreciation

Never underestimate the power of appreciation in a relationship. Take the time to express your gratitude and admiration for your spouse. Show them that you value and appreciate their presence in your life. Small gestures like leaving love notes, giving compliments, or doing something thoughtful can go a long way in keeping the love alive.

6. Prioritize Intimacy

Physical intimacy is an important aspect of any romantic relationship. Make sure to prioritize intimacy in your marriage. Set aside time for physical affection, whether it's cuddling, holding hands, or being intimate. Physical connection helps to strengthen the emotional bond between you and your spouse.

7. Keep the Element of Surprise

Don't let the element of surprise fade away in your marriage. Plan spontaneous dates or surprises for your spouse to keep the excitement alive. It could be a surprise picnic, a surprise visit to their favorite place, or a surprise gift. These unexpected gestures show your spouse that you still want to make them feel loved and cherished.

Remember, marriage is a journey that requires effort and commitment from both partners. By prioritizing dating and keeping the love alive, you can continue to build a strong and fulfilling relationship with your spouse.
